He half rolled over on Halloween
almost 16 weeks

For Halloween Evan was a fireman. We went to my parent's house to eat dinner before venturing to the mall (the modern day town center, where all the kids dress up and show off their costumes). We never made it to the mall because Evan fell asleep (we keep forgetting that we can't keep him up past about 7:00). After eating, we were all watching Evan lay on his back, pretty much just staring at him. He started to kind of roll to one side, but couldn't get beyond his arm which was in the way. Jerry gave him a little push, and got him over the hump, then Evan finished by removing his arm from under his body and propping himself up on both elbows. We repeated this activity about six times.

Each time after rolling over, he would forward-scoot toward a toy (pushing his feet off of my body). He wasn't lifting his tummy off the floor or anything, but still... he gets the idea that moving his body in this way will get him to new destinations.

My dad predicts he'll be crawling within 6 weeks. That would be a little early. I just realized that once he learns to crawl, he'll be getting into more things, thus adding to the stress of our days! And that could come in 6 weeks?

happy times
Evan is so happy! He's sort of easily amused. Jerry sits Evan on his tummy and sings funny songs to him while making Evan sort of "dance" (by moving his arms around) and he just cackles! He loves it! I sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to him and he smiles and cackles like it's the funniest thing ever. He also likes any type of bouncing.

Speaking of bouncing...
Evan spit up about a cup of curdy stuff all over Jerry's face today. Now that I think of it, it was pretty funny. Jerry was lying on the couch, holding Evan above his head and sort of shaking him. Evan was laughing deliriously (see above). I was walking by, carring a basket of laundry. Suddenly, an outpouring. I just stood there, totally dumbfounded. Looking totally grossed out and shocked, Jerry said, "Can you help me?" I continued to just stand there, still dumbfounded, not sure what to do for like a full minute, and finally Jerry pushed the baby into me so he could run to the bathroom and clean up. At least his mouth had been closed.

The kid is growing like a weed
In spite of all his spitting up, he's keeping enough down that he's getting huge. He is now wearing 6-9 month size clothes! We went shopping this weekend, bought his first pair of jeans. He's a big boy.

The sleeping issue
No progress on the sleeping thing. I haven't really tried, though. I did receive my book from Amazon on how to get him to sleep through the night (without using the cry-it-out method... more on that later), how to get him to sleep in his own bed, and how to establish nighttime routines. I didn't realize being a parent involved such obsession over sleeping and sleep related issues. Soon I'll finish my book and then we'll try some new things. Hopefully something will work.
