38.2 week checkup

It's been 10 days since my last appointment, and since then I have started to feel a lot of downward pressure, combined with more difficulty moving, etc. I had a feeling that he had dropped or *something* was happening. Well, he is not yet fully engaged, but he went from -2 to -1 station ("fully engaged" = 0 station). Yahoo!

She said the downward pressure pains could just be how my contractions feel. I don't like that thought. I never felt downward pressure with Evan... apparantly the pressure part started after I had my epidural.

Also, I am dilated to a 2. How exciting! With Evan, I was a 3 for 3 weeks and he was born on his due date, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything will happen soon, but I am happy to know that my bod is doing its job!!

I am still 50% effaced, same as last week.

She predicted he might be 7-8 pounds, but reiterated how basically impossible it is to predict such things.

I'm at that point in "pre-labor" that they talked about in lamaze class... there are some contractions and a little pain, but I'm smiling through all of it because I'm so blissfully unaware (or in denial) of what I'm about to do. I have no fear (yet). I just can't wait.
