Did he just say that?
Evan has entered a whole new realm of sassy. Some examples.
Me: Evan, put your boots away please.
Evan: No, I don't want to.
Me: Yes, now please.
Evan: Mommy, don't argue with me.
Me: I'm not arguing. I'm the mommy, so I get to say that.
Evan: Your voice doesn't sound very nice. I don't like that.
Me: Put your boots away now!
Evan: I need you to stop arguing right now.
Me: If your boots are still out in three seconds, you will be in a time-out.
Evan: Oh, oh, look! I be nice! I am putting away my boots now. See, mommy?
And...
Jerry: Evan, bring your coat in from the car, please.
Evan: No. You do it, daddy.
Jerry: Now!
Evan: Oh, oh, I do it daddy!
And...
Evan: No, I don't want to do that.
Me: Evan, you are arguing. We do time-outs for arguing.
Evan: Mommy, I'm not arguing. I'm just talking.
Me: You are talk-arguing.
Evan: Oh, I sorry. I be nice now. Look! I'm nice!
Isaac's learning that things have a purpose.
He put the phone up to Jerry's ear.
He grabbed the remote control and pointed it at the TV.
He constantly tries to feed me really soggy food, recently removed from his mouth. He takes it and pushes really hard against my very-closed lips.
He started to drop food on the floor and I said "no" while shaking my head. He then started to shake his head.
We have been doing the sign language symbol for "more," which looks a little like clapping (finger tips come together repeatedly). We do it in between bites of food. He has started clapping when he wants more, which I think is his attempt to do this (that's how Evan did it too).
He crawled away from me, turned around, waved, and then continued on his way down the hall.
He knows we don't want him playing in the entertainment center. A few days ago he went to open the door, stopped, and looked back at me guiltily as if to say, "are you gonna stop me?" That's the first time I've ever seen this expression of guilt on his face.
