Isaac's new things...

He wakes up in the morning, hanging out in a crouched position while raising his arms above his head to hold onto the crib railing. I bend down and peek at him through the slats, he gets a huge smile on his face, then he stands up to look at me over the top, again totally tickled. Then he bends down again and looks through the slats. Then he gets a crabby look on his face and fusses so I pick him up.

He feels very chubby and husky and big - not like a baby anymore.

He can stand on his own for about 20 seconds at a time. Sometimes he looks like he wants to walk and will start to, but isn't really close in terms of balance and all.

I try to feed him morning breakfast when he wakes at 6:00, but he is rarely hungry. He just wants to play with me sitting nearby. Or he sits in his chair at the table and plays with Cheerios while I do the dishes before the kids arrive. He drops them onto the floor and then waves at them.

He loves to try to feed himself. I will give him a spoon and if I also give him a bowl with food in it, he is totally amused. He will practically giggle when he sees the bowl. He will put his spoon in it and move it all around, and bring the spoon to the general vicinity of his mouth. Then he tries to put the spoon in my mouth. This is hilarious to him.

He LOVES peas. He also likes carrots, all types of fruit, toast, cheese, and rice cereal (the only thing he will let me spoon feed him). When we go to restaurants, he eats Spanish rice. At an asian restaurant, he loves edamame soybeans - it is the most passionate I've seen him about any food.

He also tries to shove his pacifier (which he only uses to chew on) into my mouth. Again... hilarious to him.

When getting ready in the morning, I blow dry my hair on the floor of his room while he plays. He grabs the brush and hits my head with it.

He has a toy phone which he puts up to his ear, and then my ear, and then his again...

He points the remote control at the TV.

If he gets ahold of the real phone or Evan's toothbrush and then I take it away from him, he cries like this is the biggest catastrophe of the world today.

When he is sitting on my lap and I put a sock or shoe on him, he lifts his foot to help me out. He seems very interested in this.

He loves his Leapfrog Learning Table. He drops the balls into the top and then bends down to retrieve it. Before he sticks it in the hole again, he likes to hold it at the top and think about it.

Sometimes he cries when the daycare kids leave. So far it isn't too hard for me to watch him and the big kids yet (he hasn't knocked down their Lego towers or stolen their toys yet, but I'm sure that is coming soon). He is fine with them playing next to him, and if they seem more agressive than him, he just crawls away and goes somewhere else. I assume this will change as he gets older?

Before bedtime, I read him books. He turns the pages and seems to love this time together. He has imitated a few sounds - including the cow's moo dog's woof. When he doesn't want the book anymore, he drops it over the edge of the chair and waves good-bye to it.

Whenever he sees the cat, he makes this gutteral sound in his throat that sounds a lot like hissing. So I guess our cat hissed at him once. Then he saw a polar bear on TV, and he hissed at it. Then we went to our friends' house across the street. I went to nurse him in the next room, and Isaac caught sight of the giant deer head on their wall. He hissed at it.

He wakes once or twice at night to eat. He is a great napper and goes down willingly. He would be the opposite of Evan in this way. :)

When Jerry gets home, he waves at him with both hands and practically jumps out of my arms to go to him. As soon as Jerry is holding him, he cries to come back to my arms. He likes it when we are all together.
