Pneumonia and first steps.
I will post about Isaac's 1st Birthday Party later.
Last week he was slightly fussy, so Jerry took him to the doctor. I was sure it was an ear infection. But he has pneumonia, bronchialitis, and RSV. The doctor said he was pretty sick. He was put on antibiotics, steroids, and some other medicine through a nebulizer (he has to wear a face mask a few times a day and breathe in this steamy-looking vapor. He hates it.)
24 hours later they reevaluated him, and said he was "clear as a whistle." So after only 1 day of meds, he turned the corner. He will continue to take his meds for the next week.
The odd thing is, he never acted terribly sick, and still doesn't. He is just slightly more fussy and has a reduced appetite. He is still playing with Evan every day and giggling at the burp/fart noises that Evan has learned to make so well.
And... I think he is officially walking. He has been in this "grey area" for two months now, where he will take one or two or three steps, and then crouch down and start crawling. Then he won't walk again for a couple weeks. Then he'll take two steps, followed by another two-week step vacation.
Today he took about 7 steps across the kitchen, then about 13 across his bedroom, and then numerous steps tonight for Jerry. So I guess the pneumonia has not affected his energy level at all. He doesn't seem to know that this is a big deal.
His joy for the evening was slamming the door on Jerry. Jerry had a little game going where he would open the bedroom door like he was looking for Isaac, and Isaac would slam the door shut, totally giddy and laughing. Great fun.
When he hears a dog barking, he stops whatever he is doing, gets huge eyes, and puts his lips together, trying to bark. He is so cute. He goes over to his bedroom window and pulls up the shade to look for the dog that lives behind us. Nothing else is important to him when a dog is barking.
