Boogers
21 months
Evan's had a cold for about two weeks now, and his main symptom is boogers. Jerry taught him what a booger is. Later that day, Jerry was soaking some beans in a big pot of water, and Evan saw them and said, "oogie oogie oggie boogers," while pointing at the pot of beans. Jerry told him that they were, in fact, not boogers, but beans.
Every night I read to him. Currently, his favorite book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. He also likes his Barney and Elmo books and a book about Dinosaurs called Dinosaur Roar. Last night I was reading one, and I would ask where the dog was, the cat, Cookie Monster, etc., and he was pointing to everything. At one point, I said, "Where's the flower?" and he pointed at a dragonfly. I showed him where the actual flower was and said that the other thing was a dragonfly. Then we read it again, and I asked where the flower was, and I could tell he was confused... so he took both his pointy fingers and pointed at both the flower and the dragonfly. He's sneaky.

Then there are good days...
21 months
Today we went grocery shopping and to McDonald's. He got a Buzz Lightyear in his happymeal and he really liked his Buzz. He tried to feed him a fry, a nugget, and gave him some apple juice. He wasn't even trying to be cute. He was pretending to himself. Then a little boy walked by and Evan waved and the boy said hey. He's growing up! He even let me change a stinky diaper this morning without a fight. I asked him if he would lie down and he did, but only after he first gathered all of his hot wheels into his arms. He held them close the whole time. I wonder if he was fighting us in the past because he thought we were trying to steal his hotwheels. Hmmmm.

Another homefront update by Jerry
Still 20 months
We went to a park in Littleton today and had a great time. I introduced him to pinecones. We walked around the park gathering pinecones then putting them on the picnic table where he pretended to serve and eat lunch. Munch Munch Munch. Giggggggle. He also ran around by himself. Such a great park with the hills and no traffic that I felt comfortable just letting him go off and do his own thing. I had my eye on him the whole time, but he explored. We went to IHOP after and he ate a silver dollar pancake (1 of 5) and a whole scrambled egg and a few my fries as well as some milk. Now he's about to take a nap, though he doesn't know that yet.

Jerry's update on the homefront
20 months
Evan drank a cup of Ovaltine in one epic gulp-fest and when he was done he had an ovaltine mustache that made him look like the Joker from Batman. He also chose the moment that I was on the phone with the insurance lady to try to pull down the DVD player. Me thinks he's testing his boudaries.
