Evan expressions

Evan is really starting to talk up a storm. He expresses how he's feeling a lot more now. He often says things like, "Evan yike that" while shaking is head no meaning that he doesn't like something. Last night we were in Sam Goodey and they were playing some top 40 pap with lots of modulated female soul singers and Evan out of the blue says, "Evan no yike this song." Thats my boy. By the same token he expresses when he's in a good mood too. He says thing like, "Evan feel good." Yesterday, i was holding him and we were quietly chatting about toddler stuff and he gave me a hug and said, "Evan happy." Which made me feel awesome seeing that a couple weeks ago he called me mean.

Isaac week 2

Isaac is doing great, and Evan has stopped acting out, for the most part. Evan loves his baby brother, and is always asking, "Evan care?" (which means "Evan carry?")

Here are some picts.

Isaac week 1

Angel Baby
Isaac is 1 week old today. He really is an angel. So sweet! He seems to be looking around more than ever before, but is still pretty "new" in the sense that he's not interacting with us yet. We sure do love him.

He slept for 5 hours sraight for two nights in a row, but then the last two nights I think his appetite picked up, because he woke up every 2-3 hours. That's not as bad as it sounds, because he eats fast and then falls back asleep immediately. He did sleep for a 5-hour stretch today, but it was from 4am - 9am, and I was up for the day at 6:00, so it didn't help much. Still, I think he might be a good sleeper.

I've probably just jinxed it.

Breastfeeding hurts. I thought it would be painless the second time around but I guess not. He makes the same cute little noises while eating that Evan did. Cute.

At his recent doctor visit, she said he was healthy. His height and weight are both in the 75th percentile. As a newborn, he's a little longer than Evan was and not quite as chubby.

Evan is doing well. Sometimes he is sweet to Isaac, kissing him on the face and squeezing (hugging) him. Often he ignores him, as he has more interesting two-year-old things to do (like parking his cars on Isaac's miniature diapers and using the changing pad as a parking garage. He also used the changing pad as a platter and brought me some peanuts. Ew.). He has learned that it's funny to run away from me when I'm breastfeeding at the doctor's office or to say "no" when I'm holding the baby and can't do anything to discipline him. It's all stuff that I expected, but I have trouble not ringing his sweet little neck. We're trying to not make issues out of little things, thus egging him on.

Here is a conversation we had today:
Evan: Evan poop. A lot.
Me: You pooped?
Evan: Yes. Diaper change.
Me: You want a diaper change?
Evan: No diaper change. All gone.
Me: What's all gone? The diapers?
Evan: No, not diapers. All gone. Diapers.
Me: No, the diapers aren't all gone. We have lots more. Can I go change you now?
Evan: No, no diaper change. Poo poo all gone.

Isaac Day 2

Some of the swelling in his face went down. Isn't he sweet??

I'm feeling much better. Already, I can tell this delivery was easier on my body than Evan's... 20 minutes of pushing instead of 2 hours makes a big difference, apparently. Evan is an angel when he is with Isaac... he rubs his back and smiles at him and even loaned him his Spongebob toy. But home alone with daddy, he is acting up, throwing random tantrums. I'm sure there will be some negative behavior coming from this new competition.

Isaac and I get to stay in the hospital for 2 nights. Although it's boring here, it's nice to be able to take lots of naps and sleep most of the night, even if I'm breastfeeding every few hours. I feel pretty well rested today. Isaac is doing great. He hardly ever cries. He sleeps almost all the time, and when he does cry, it's really sweet and not that loud. Earlier today, he spent a good five minutes checking out my face with that dazed newborn look. I wonder if he recognized my voice as I spoke to him. He's definitely a keeper.

pictures and specs coming soon.

Breaking of the waters

The labor sorta of stalled so at 2pm we went for a hike. The contractions came back so we had them break the waters. A is at 5cm and the contractions are more severe. we'll have an epidural at 4am. Its 3:30 right now. Soon!

We're in the hospital

A. is still at 3 cm, but the contractions are getting stronger and more regular. This place is wonderful and the staff has been great. We're very excited. Soon!

My body needs to make up its mind

On again... off again...

My contractions were non-existent or mild all afternoon. At 3:30 we tried walking to make them start up again, but that was a flop. I asked the doctor to check me again at 4:00, and she said there was no change from this morning. That's not a great sign.

But ever since she checked me, I have been having contractions. I'm afraid to get my hopes up! They are 5 minutes apart, lasting a minute each time, and are more painful than before. But still, I don't want to get sent home again, so I am WAITING until they stay like this for an hour. If I deliver at home, so be it. Kidding. That won't happen.

Back at home

I am back home, but still having contractions (I'm in the "latent" phase). I am dilated to 3 cm and 60% effaced. They want me to be dilated to 4 cm before admitting me to the hospital (I was a 2 on Monday). They told me to walk around and also get some rest, but not to wait too long because it's my second delivery and my labor with Evan was pretty short. A couple hours ago I was certain I would deliver today because of how the contractions felt. Then an hour later I wasn't so sure. Now they are starting up again.

I asked her if she thought he might come on his due date in 8 days, and she said she is sure he'll come by this weekend.

I hope she's right. Or I'll be really mad. :)

Is it time???

I am going to the hospital!
I had bad contractions (like menstral cramps) at 3am but they stopped around 430. They started up again at 900 am. I am waiting for the daycare parents and Jerry to get here, any minute now, then going to the dr. Contractions are close together but not very painful. Stay tuned!

9 days to go

Pregnancy update
No more contractions, feeling great, not very happy about that.

Evan update
Some cute things he's said lately:

[I had my legs crossed and he lifted the top leg up as high as it would go]: "Mommy, lift the drawbridge please."

[Looked at the buttons on my shirt]: "Uno, dos, tres... Uno dos tres quatro!" (I'm not sure how he learned to count in Spanish, other than by Jerry counting last week or from watching Dora). Needless to say, I was shocked.

[During cleanup time, I asked Evan to put the fire engine under the train table, where it is stored]: "No, mommy, fire engine too big." (It is most certainly not too big. He'll do anything to get out of chores, even spending countless minutes talking me out of it.)

Cute prononciations
Fire truck = far cuck
catsup = hee hup
