Isaac's 1-year pictures
He had his first haircut today. He cried for the first few minutes, then calmed down.

Then we went to get his pictures done, and he cried again. Then he got comfortable, but would not cooperate. Didn't want to stay in one place, did not want to pose, didn't want to smile. Only wanted to crawl everywhere, all over everything, grab the camera, grab the tickly thing the photographer was using to make him smile. I am amazed he took any good pictures!

Afterwards, we all went home and took long naps.

Evanisms
Evan: I'm done going pee pee.
Me: Did you wash your hands?
Evan: Yes.
Me (not believing him): Lemme see your hands. Is that water on your hands?
Evan: Yes, that's water.
Me: Or is it pee pee?
Evan: Pee pee has water in it, so I don't need to wash my hands. Only go pee pee!

Isaac is almost one!
A few times when I gave the daycare baby her bottle of milk, Isaac waved at her. I wondered why he was waving at her. Was he saying "hi" even though neither of them had recently entered the room? He did it a few more times, each time while she was drinking a bottle, and I realized he was doing the sign for "milk." The sign looks like a hand milking a cow, though when he does it, it looks like waving. Aw.

He says "mama," "dada," "na na" (which means "night night,") and oh oh (though he only says "uh"). When I ask if he wants "up" from the table, he says "uh," like he is trying really hard to say "up."

He sometimes takes one little step forward, and then falls down. He still seems to feel most comfy with crawling.

He is obsessed with animal noises. I read him animal books and after I turn the page and he sees the picture, he immediately twists his body to look at my lips. He stares at them with each sound. For the elephant sound, I put my arm out in front of my face like it was a trunk. When I was done, he took my arm and pushed it back toward my face.

The other day, the other kids were napping and he was wide awake, so I was playing with him in his room. He has a wooden stacking toy. I took the rectangular shape, separated his big toe from the one next to it, and stuck the block in between those toes. He wiggled his toes and watched the block move back and forth, and thought this was hilarious. Now he will crawl up to the same block, grab it, and hit his toe with it. He's not quite sure how to stick it in there.
